MiWay 2023 Holiday season service changes

Transit bus riders in Mississauga should take note of a number of schedule changes planned during the holiday season.

Officials with MiWay, Mississauga’s public transit provider, say various seasonal service changes will be in effect starting on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, and continuing until Jan. 7.

Included in the revised schedule is the annual free bus service for MiWay passengers on New Year’s Eve from 7 p.m. until 4 a.m. on Jan. 1.

MiWay officials say the changes are needed in order “to ensure that service is aligned with customer demand during the holidays.”

Among the changes to service will be the temporary shutting down of the 300-series routes, which serve high schools and students across the city.

Those routes won’t be operating while schools are closed down for the holiday season. They’ll run again beginning Jan. 8.

Officials also note that MiWay buses will be running on a reduced holiday service schedule on Dec. 25 and on a regular Saturday schedule on Dec. 26 (Boxing Day).

From Dec. 27-29, there will be reduced weekday service on routes 18, 44, 109 and 110. Routes 25 and 74 won’t operate at all on those days.

Dec. 30 will see a regular Saturday service schedule while Dec. 31 will feature a regular Sunday service schedule with extended service until 2 a.m. on certain routes, MiWay says.

On New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, MiWay buses will run on a reduced holiday service schedule. Jan. 2-5 will see buses run on a regular weekday schedule with the exception of the 300-series buses, which won’t run.

In addition, routes 17 Hurontario and 23 Lakeshore will offer less frequent service on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Routes 28 Confederation, 46 Tenth Line-Osprey and 48 Erin Mills won’t run at all on those two days.

The following routes will also have extended late night service until 2 a.m. on New Year’s Eve:

  • 1 Dundas
  • 2 Hurontario
  • 3 Bloor
  • 5 Dixie
  • 7 Airport
  • 10 Bristol-Britannia
  • 11 Westwood
  • 13 Glen Erin
  • 17 Hurontario
  • 23 Lakeshore
  • 26 Burnhamthorpe
  • 61 Mavis
  • 66 McLaughlin
