Mississauga’s Bianca Andreescu is through to the third round at Indian Wells after defeating American Alison Riske 7-6, 5-7, 6-2 at the BNP Paribas Open Saturday night.
The first two sets were close before the 16th seeded Andreescu turned it on in the deciding set, breaking Riske twice and staking herself to a 4-0 lead before holding serve and cruising to victory.
Andreescu, who is now 8-0 at Indian Wells – winning the tournament in 2019 – will face the No. 18 seed, Anett Kontaveit of Estonia Monday.
