Mississauga woman creates unique Ramadan inflatables

As you drive through your neighbourhood during the holidays, you may come across Christmas-themed inflatables on lawns and front porches which are typical during that time of the year.
Stores across the city are stocked with inflatable reindeer, Santas and candy canes.
But what if you saw inflatables that celebrated another holiday? Specifically Ramadan and Eid.
With the support of her husband, Mississauga-based entrepreneur Basharat Rehman decided to take it upon herself to create Ramadan-inspired inflatables to showcase and share the joy of Ramadan and Eid with the rest of their community.
The resulting business, New Traditions Store, launched earlier this year and now that Ramadan is quickly approaching, the business has been booming.
Ramadan begins on April 12 this year and Eid will be celebrated exactly one month later.

The website mentions that Muslim holiday inflatables and outdoor decor are a perfect avenue for the young generation growing up in North America to feel connected and excited for Islamic celebrations.
Rehman says the inspiration for designing Ramadan inflatables came from her children who were so mesmerized by colourful, inflatable versions of Santa Claus and Frosty the Snowman.
“When the Christmas holiday season rolls around, we experience so much joy seeing the lights, decorations and positive vibes in the atmosphere,” Rehman says.
“Through our outdoor inflatables and promoting outdoor décor for Muslim holidays, we hope to create a similar feeling of joy that is shareable with the rest of the community.”
Rehman also says they hope to create an avenue for Muslim children, so they feel more enthusiastic for practising and celebrating Ramadan and Eid.
Rehman acknowledged that they were not the only ones feeling left out.
“We received a tremendous amount of positive feedback from families all across North America, thanking us for finally bringing this much-needed idea to the market,” she says.
This season, the shop will offer a multi-use reversible crescent/cloud inflatable that will read Ramadan Mubarak on one side and Eid Mubarak (for Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-Ul-Adha) on the other and a mosque design.
