The bean counters at the City of Mississauga are nothing if not consistent as the City has been awarded the Government Finance Officers Association’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the 32nd consecutive year.

The award recognizes the City’s efforts to deliver high-quality budget documents that improve transparency and engagement with residents. Award submissions must meet nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentations and are judged on their merits as policy documents, financial plans, operations guides and communications tools.

“Year over year, the City maintains its commitment to strong financial management by delivering a thoughtful, balanced, and transparent budget and business plan for residents and businesses,” said Shari Lichterman, Commissioner of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer. “Mississauga remains committed to delivering good value for money, while always considering the needs of the people we serve and the programs and services they rely upon.”

Municipalities who have received the award have the highest standards of government budgeting and financial reporting.
