Fifty years of history will come together this weekend for Mississauga’s Erin Mills Soccer Club (EMSC).

Members of the organization both past and present have been invited back to mark the half-century milestone with a celebration that will take place at the team’s clubhouse on May 15.

Founded in 1972, the Erin Mills Soccer Club has been built on a tradition of success winning six national championships, four silver championship medals and 50 Ontario Cup wins. Former players have gone on to professional careers and the organization carries the Gold Standard Award for Club Excellence from Ontario Soccer.

A non-profit community-based organization, EMSC has offered indoor and outdoor recreational and competitive soccer programs to the Erin Mills community since day one and look forward to another 50 years of play.

“It’s an honour and privilege to be working with EMSC as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary,” said Matthew Kassabian, the General Manager. “It has been a long journey for the club with many challenges along the way, especially having to navigate the hurdles of the pandemic. But, we made it through with the help and support of our community, volunteers, staff and board of directors over the years.”

Sunday’s celebration will begin at 1 p.m. at the clubhouse headquarters located at 3135 Unity Dr., unit 3 & 4.

As well as the reminiscing, there will be food, games, fun activities and raffle prizes including tickets to big-name soccer clubs such as TFC, Forge FC and York United.

The event is free to attend and open to the public.

“After all the challenges from the pandemic, we are so excited to invite the Erin Mills community to our Clubhouse to celebrate our anniversary and the upcoming season.” said Lea Randall, Marketing & Events Coordinator for the club.
