Mississauga is looking for a few good men and women to help put out fires in Canada’s seventh-largest city.

Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services (MFES) will host a series of in-person and virtual open house sessions over the next three months for those interested in becoming a firefighter in Mississauga.

Having recently graduated its latest new recruits, MFES is now looking to the 2023-24 class.

Officials say they are looking for recruits “to join a diverse team working to protect people, property and the environment in Mississauga.”

Those who participate in the upcoming open houses, both in-person and virtual sessions, will learn about firefighter positions and the hiring process, MFES officials say.

Sessions will also include testimonials from Mississauga firefighters and question-and-answer opportunities.

MFES officials say Mississauga firefighters receive a competitive salary, benefits and compensation plan.

Those who join the ranks of Mississauga firefighters will also at some point be introduced to one of the organization’s most popular members, a service dog named Ajax.

Applications will be accepted from June 15 to July 10 at jobs.mississauga.ca.
