Mississauga's Manjeet Babrah won $1 million on a Lotto Max ticket. Initially, he thought he'd won $100,000.

Manjeet Babrah was happy enough when he thought he’d won $100,000.

But when the Mississauga man realized it was actually a $1 million jackpot that he’d won on a Lotto Max Maxmillions ticket, he was through the roof with joy.

“It’s such a shock,” said Babrah, adding he mostly plays the lottery when the jackpots are big.

Babrah, whose ticket won in the June 8 draw, said he checked his ticket using the OLG app.

“At first, I thought I won $100,000. I turned off my phone; I didn’t know how to react. I told my son right away,” Babrah said while picking up his winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

“I enjoy playing Ontario 49, Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Max.”

Babrah plans to invest and save a large portion of his win for his children.

“Hopefully, we will go on a family vacation next year,” he said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Hasty Market on Britannia Road in Mississauga.
