Syrian-Canadians will host a vigil on Sunday at Celebration Square in downtown Mississauga.

Music, art and food are all on tap tonight (June 21) at Celebration Square as Mississauga celebrates National Indigenous Peoples Day.

The local installment of the Canada-wide event honours Indigenous cultures in and around Mississauga, City of Mississauga officials say.

Admission to the all-ages celebration is free. Show runs from 6-9:30 p.m.

“Grab your spot on the lawn as a dynamic lineup of Indigenous performers hit the main stage,” City officials said in a news release, adding those in attendance can also browse an artisan market and get creative at a Moccasin Identifier Project interactive display.

Award-winning singer/songwriter Logan Staats headlines the evening’s entertainment with a performance starting at 8:30 p.m.

Organizers say it will be an “unforgettable performance you won’t want to miss.”

The event is being held in collaboration with Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.
