A Mississauga driver’s licence has been suspended after allegedly running from cops following a three-car crash in Caledon.

Around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday (Oct. 16), the Caledon OPP and emergency crews were called to the area of Mayfield Rd. near Coleraine Dr. in Caledon for reports of a crash.

Police say there was a three-vehicle collision involving minor injuries, and one of the drivers allegedly took off from the scene on foot.

The OPP and officers from Peel Regional Police found the driver at a nearby storage yard, and the driver was arrested for impaired driving charges.

Police say the driver was transported to a nearby hospital for assessment and for breath tests to be conducted.

Gursimran Singh, 21, of Mississauga has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Failure to stop after accident
  • Public mischief

The involved vehicle was impounded for seven days, and the driver’s licence was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on Dec. 29 to answer to the charges. None of the allegations have been proven in court.

Police are reminding drivers that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving.

If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired, police advise you 9-1-1 to report it. Driving under the influence of either alcohol or drugs is a criminal offence.
