Maad Al-Juboori thought his wife would be excited when he called to tell her they’d just won $150,000 in The Big Spin instant lottery game.

That wasn’t the reaction the 36-year-old Mississauga man received, though.

“I called my wife to tell her, and she said, ‘Great! While you’re at the store, can you pick up some milk?’ She didn’t believe it was real,” Al-Juboori shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto recently to collect his winnings.

The big winner said he has been a loyal player of The Big Spin since 2016 in hopes of one day spinning The Big Spin Wheel at the OLG Prize Centre.

“I love watching the in-store spin. When I saw it land on Big Spin, I thought I won $50 or $100 at first. I couldn’t believe what was happening,” the Mississauga man said, adding it felt like a dream walking into the room ready to spin The Big Spin Wheel. “I couldn’t help but think back to that first ticket I purchased in 2016, and now I’m here. It felt like a dream I didn’t want to wake up from.”

When the wheel landed on $150,000, Al-Juboori said he was overcome with happiness.

“It was overwhelming. I am going to use this to pay bills, spoil my wife and save some for my children. I am also going to plan a fun family vacation and invest in myself by taking some courses,” he added.

The Big Spin instant game is a $5 game that combines popular scratch play with prizes revealed in-store by an animated spinning wheel on the lottery terminal screen. Potentially, game players can win an in-person spin on the big wheel at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

The winning ticket was purchased at Petro Canada, on Yonge St. in Newmarket.
