Mississauga man, Maple man arrested in relation to Niagara human trafficking case

Ontario Welland, New Brunswick police trafficking arrested charges

A Mississauga man and Maple man are facing charges Thursday (May 30) in connection to a Human Trafficking investigation in Niagara.

Niagara Regional Police says three males were identified after its Human Trafficking Unit launched an investigation into the trafficking of a person over the age of 18

Mohammed Arshad Ghummian, 61, of Mississauga and Wasim Ahmed, 47, of Maple have been arrested and each has been charged with trafficking in persons by recruiting, procuring, sexual assault, forcible confinement, and uttering threats.

Both Ghummian and Ahmed were being held in custody pending a video bail hearing on Thursday (May 30) in St. Catharines.

Police continue to investigate and say there may be more victims.
