A Mississauga man has been charged in connection with an incident in Oshawa last year where a gun was fired following an attack.

Durham Regional Police say on August 28 of 2020, officers were called to a disturbance at an Oshawa home.

According to reports, a man arriving at his home around 4 a.m. was confronted by a group of men. The group attacked the man and tried to take his jewellery and shoes.

Police say the victim was struck on the head with an object and was treated at the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The victim’s father, who tried to intervene during the attack, was struck by a suspect’s vehicle. His injuries were not considered serious.

Police believe one of the attackers fired a gun at the house while driving away from the scene.

Durham officers have now made an arrest in this case, but they continue to look for others who they believe were involved.

Charged with assault with a weapon, two counts of assault causing bodily harm, robbery with an offensive weapon, possessing a weapon dangerous to public peace, use of a firearm during the commission of an offence, possessing a loaded restricted or prohibited firearm, and failing to comply with a court order is Eden Hamilton, 38, of Lisgar Dr. in Mississauga.
