A Mississauga man identified by police as a “high-risk driving offender” due to alleged repeated offences is facing multiple charges after being arrested twice within five days.

Members of the Peel Regional Police Safer Roads Team (SRT) made the arrests on March 3 and again on March 8 of a man they say has “a long history of illegal driving behaviour.”

Police said in a news release that SRT officers utilize evidence-based enforcement to target aggressive and high-risk drivers in Peel. They target offenders by using various investigative tactics and analytics to track high-risk drivers that pose an increased risk to public safety within the community.

SRT officers identified Saad Rafiq Bhatti, of Mississauga, as a high-risk driving offender.

In April 2022, the man was charged with operation while impaired and fail to stop after an accident. He was convicted for fail to stop for police in February 2023 and is currently on two separate driving-related prohibitions, police say.

On March 3, patrol officers arrested Bhatti and charged him with dangerous operation. He was released on a court order.

On March 8, he was arrested again and charged with:

  • fail to comply with undertaking
  • dangerous operation
  • drive motor vehicle – perform stunt
  • drive while under suspension
  • use plate not authorized for vehicle
  • drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates

He was held pending a bail hearing in Brampton court.
