Mississauga man faces drug charges after failed attempt to evade R.I.D.E check: OPP

A Mississauga man is facing a number of charges after attempting to flee an Ontario Provincial Police R.I.D.E, check recently in the city.
According to the OPP’s Highway Safety Division, the 21-year-old motorist tried to evade the R.I.D.E. check located on Highway 403 near Hurontario but was stopped when officers deployed a spike belt.
The suspect and the disabled vehicle were located a short distance away and a search of the vehicle uncovered a stash of drugs, stolen items and cash.
The driver is now facing charges related to drug trafficking, obstruction, possession of stolen property and evading police.
