A Mississauga man has been charged after an alleged robbery involving a sex worker and police believe there may be other victims.
On Saturday (Dec. 16) Peel Regional Police say the accused had a pre-arranged meeting with a sex trade worker at a Mississauga hotel.
Following the initial arrangement, the accused requested additional services not included in the agreement. Upon the victim’s refusal, the man became upset, officers say.
According to investigators, despite being refunded his money, the accused went on to assault the victim, forcibly holding her when she tried to escape. The victim called for help, leading to the accused fleeing the scene with some of her belongings.
Authorities have confirmed that the victim did not sustain any injuries as a result of the incident.
On Friday (Dec. 22) David Piperni, 36, from Mississauga was apprehended and held for bail. He faces a series of criminal charges including robbery, forcible confinement, uttering threats, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
Notably, at the time of his arrest, Piperni was already on release for similar offenses.
Police are actively looking into other incidents involving Piperni and suspect there to be additional victims.
Any prior victims or anyone with information on this investigation are urged to contact 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau officers at 905-453-2121 extension 1133.
