A Mississauga man faces several charges for allegedly fleeing an OPP traffic stop.

According to the OPP, the man approached a RIDE stop in Caledonia, about an hour southeast of Mississauga on the far side of Hamilton, on Mar. 13.

The driver, age 20, allegedly fled from the spot check but was soon stopped by Haldimand County OPP officers. The OPP then learned the man was a novice driver with only a G1 license.

He now faces multiple Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act charges and will appear in the Cayuga courthouse at a later date.

Police took the opportunity to remind motorists, “Driving is a privilege, not a right.”
