A man has been taken into custody and charged with multiple human trafficking offences in Mississauga.

Peel Regional Police say that the accused allegedly confined one victim “by force” coercing her into the sex trade, while procuring the second victim.

It is also alleged he exercised control over various aspects of their lives and profited from these activities.

On Wednesday (Nov. 29) police along with the Human Trafficking Unit apprehended and charged Andre O’Connor (46) —a resident of Mississauga, with 12 criminal offences.

These charges include forcible confinement, assault, assault with a weapon, human trafficking, receiving material benefit, two counts of advertising sexual services, failure to comply with a release order, assault causing bodily harm, and possession of opioids.

O’Connor was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

Investigators suspect there may be additional victims, especially in the Greater Toronto Area, and encourage them to contact 905-453-2121, extension 3555. Information can also be provided anonymously to Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
