Mississauga lotto winner will use $100,000 to pay for daughter's education

Zbigniew Mielnik’s $100,000 win in a recent Lotto Max draw is a far cry from what he’s won before playing the lottery.

“I’ve won a few prizes before, but they are usually ‘free plays’,” the Mississauga resident said while collecting his winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

Mielnik, a 58-year-old father of one, matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order on his March 29 winning ticket. He also won $7 on two other Encore selections on the same ticket to bring his total prize to $100,007.

The lucky winner says he’ll pay a few bills and then use the rest of the cash to pay for his daughter’s education.

Mielnik said it was a shock to discover he had won a big prize.

“It was a very big surprise. I feel very happy,” he said.
