All staff at Mississauga’s three hospitals must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by Oct. 20.
Trillium Health Partners (THP), which oversees Mississauga Hospital, Credit Valley Hospital and Queensway Health Centre, said in a statement today that the vaccinations will be mandatory for all staff, professional staff (doctors and nurses), volunteers and others. The mandate excludes those with an approved medical exemption or accommodation.
The policy takes effect Sept. 7, and will be implemented over six weeks until Oct. 20, when all workers are to be fully vaccinated.
“As one of the hardest-hit communities during this pandemic, and because of the proven effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine, this mandate will ensure the safest possible environment to work and deliver care to the community we serve,” a statement from THP reads.
The move comes as William Osler Health System, which runs the hospitals in Brampton and Etobicoke, announced a similar mandate yesterday.
