Mississauga driver charged after pedestrian dragged by vehicle

A 25-year-old Mississauga man faces a number of charges after a pedestrian was hit and dragged by a vehicle in the early hours of Sunday (May 15) in downtown Toronto.

Reports indicate the victim was walking northbound on Church St. just after midnight when he was struck by a minivan.

According to Toronto police the man was dragged 100 metres before the vehicle crashed into an outdoor patio near Wood St. The vehicle fled the scene, according to police, but was located a short distance away.

The 36-year-old victim is now in critical condition at a Toronto hospital.

Shubham Joshi, 25, of Mississauga was arrested and has been charged with dangerous driving causing bodily harm and failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm.
