GreenCentre Canada, which has a lab in Mississauga, has received more than $2.5 in federal funding to support green-tech entrepreneurs.

The two-year Advance-ON program, funded by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, supports entrepreneurs developing sustainable chemical and advanced materials technologies. Early-stage technologies could include energy and fuels, resource recovery, water treatment and consumer products from renewable sources.

GreenCentre will help develop the technologies of these early-stage clean tech companies, helping them get to market faster, creating high-quality jobs, and helping to meet the Government of Canada’s climate targets.

“This project will support 650 jobs and help up to 30 SMEs (small-to-medium sized entrepreneurs) in southern Ontario to scale-up their business, commercialize products and improve resilience, strengthening Canada’s green economy for years to come, ” says Helena Jaczek, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.

GreenCentre Canada is based in Kingston with a state-of-the-art lab in Mississauga. The company wants to help high-potential companies develop and make significant contributions to the Canadian economy, said Andrew Pasternak, GreenCentre executive director.

“The objective of our Advance-ON program is to accelerate the commercialization of clean technologies in southern Ontario so they can rapidly benefit both the environment and economy,” Pasternak added.
