Mississauga GO train users and passengers travelling between Pearson Airport in Mississauga and Toronto will soon see expanded service to make their trips easier.

Metrolinx, the provincial agency that oversees GO Transit and other public transit services in the Golden Horseshoe, announced today (March 24) it’s adding train service in a number of areas including the Lakeshore West line that runs through Mississauga.

Specifically, 30-minute train service or better, all day long including evenings and on weekends, is being added to the Lakeshore West route. Previously, during the COVID-19 pandemic, that service had been reduced to hourly.

The UP Express, the train service that links Pearson Airport with Union Station in downtown Toronto, will also see increased service.

Starting April 2, two late-evening daily trips in each direction are being added to the UP Express. The last eastbound trip each day will now depart Pearson at 11:27 p.m. while the final westbound trip will leave Union Station at 11 p.m.

Metrolinx says the added service will take effect starting next week.

“As riders return to GO Transit and UP Express, Metrolinx is bringing back service in phases, starting by resuming and adjusting some service starting April 2,” the agency said in a news release today (March 24). “The changes will offer more flexibility for customers going to events, work and for reconnecting with family and friends.”

Metrolinx says the added service is being put in place to meet demand as more people are out and about with the easing of COVID-19 restrictions.
