Keeping Mississauga’s parks clean is a community effort, and residents will soon have the chance to roll up their sleeves and help protect some of the city’s most valued outdoor spaces.
The City of Mississauga is inviting residents to take part in five park clean-up events on Wednesday, July 22, giving volunteers an opportunity to help remove litter, protect wildlife and keep local waterways healthier.
The cleanups will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at:
- AE Crookes Park — 1180 Lakeshore Rd W., Mississauga
- Victory Park — 3275 Glen Erin Dr., Mississauga
- Willowvale Fields — 2665 Erin Centre Blvd., Mississauga
- Dr. Martin L. Dobkin Community Park — 3075 Ridgeway Dr., Mississauga
- Tom Chater Memorial Park — 320 Queen St. S., Mississauga
The city will provide garbage bags and gloves for registered participants.
While picking up litter may seem like a small contribution, the city says community cleanups play an important role in protecting Mississauga’s environment. Removing garbage from parks helps prevent pollution from entering waterways, protects wildlife and ensures public spaces remain welcoming places for residents and families.
With Mississauga home to hundreds of parks, trails and natural areas, maintaining these spaces requires ongoing support from both the city and the community.
“Volunteering for park clean-ups in Mississauga is a simple way to make a big impact,” the city said in a statement.
Residents who take part will not only help improve the appearance of their neighbourhood parks but also contribute to the long-term health of the city’s green spaces.
Registration is required, and supplies will be available at each cleanup location for those who sign up.
