Mississauga and Brampton residents might want to look up in the sky Thursday night and check out the awesome light show.

The Perseid meteor shower is at its peak and observers of the night sky could be in for the most brilliant shooting star display of the year.

One of the strongest meteor showers, the Perseids will be easier to observe with the moon past its new phase making it much darker.

The Perseids began drawing attention from skywatchers back in late July and the meteor shower is expected to continue until August 18.

For the best viewing, experts suggest that you get into as dark a location as possible. You could see dozens of shooting stars each hour during the peak.
