On the heels of damaging winds that knocked out power to parts of Mississauga and other communities this past weekend, that city in addition to Brampton, Caledon, Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills are now under strong wind alerts for tomorrow.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement late this afternoon, noting that those areas can expect strong and potentially damaging winds developing Thursday morning in the Halton area and tomorrow afternoon in Mississauga and Brampton.
In both areas, the strong winds should continue into the night before weakening.
Strong southwesterly winds gusting to between 70 and 80 km/h are forecast to develop and continue into the evening hours.
Such high winds can toss around loose objects, cause tree branches to break and local power outages are possible, according to Environment Canada.
