Up to 10 cm of snow could be added into the equation when Mississauga, Brampton and Hamilton parents are getting their children off to school on Monday.

Environment Canada and the Weather Network are forecasting snow on Sunday night and Monday morning (Jan. 16-17) in all three cities. The likelihood of snow will be highest in the early morning hours.

Brampton and Hamilton could also face foggy conditions. Wind speeds are expected to be around or just over 20 km/h.

The federal weather agency typically issues advisories and alerts about winter driving conditions around 24 hours in advance.

After a cold weekend, however, temperatures are expected to rise, with daytime highs in the -2C to -3C range.

Ontario schools are reopening for in-person learning on Monday, for the first time since Dec. 17. This week and last have been online amid the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, which has proven to be more virulent than prior variants of concern.
