Christmas tree waste garbage recycle Mississauga Brampton Caledon

Christmas isn’t official over until the tree comes down, and people in Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon can ditch their festive foliage at the curb starting next week.

Between January 10 and 21, the Region of Peel will be collecting curbside Christmas trees and wreaths on select days throughout the month.

Trees and wreaths shorter than three metres can be left at the curb on scheduled recycling collection days, while taller trees must be cut in half.

All decorations, ornaments, tinsel and other holiday refuse must be removed, and the trees are not to be placed in plastic bags.

Condo or apartment dwellers can leave their trees and wreaths at the curb by the driveway entrance to the property, but be sure that trees are not blocking the road or sidewalk.

Residents can also dispose of their trees at local Community Recycling Centres, and drop-off fees have been waived during the Christmas tree collection period.
