The University of Toronto, which has campuses in Mississauga, Toronto and Scarborough, has ranked among the top 50 universities in the world, coming in at 34 (tied with one other institution) on a list of more than 1,500 post-secondary schools.

U of T is featured on this year’s QS World University Rankings, an exhaustive list that includes institutions in Europe, Asia and North America.

“Our rankings are the fast and easy way to compare institutions on a host of different criteria: from academic reputation to the number of international students enrolled,” the website reads.

The list shows an institution’s overall ranking and how well a school stacks up on a subject-by-subject basis. According to the list, U of T, which boasts an overall score of 81.5, came in at number 6 for data science.

The school came in at number 12 for computer science and information, 13 for life sciences and medicine, 15 for arts and humanities and 27 for engineering and technology.

The prestigious university also ranks number 7 for its education and training academic programs.

As far as Canadian institutions go, U of T ranks just behind the Montreal-based McGill University, which came in at 31.

Universities that cracked the top 20 include a number of world-famous institutions such as Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the University of Oxford, Stanford University, Princeton University, Yale University and others.
