While Environment Canada has yet to issue a heat warning for Halton and Peel (Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon, Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills), early weather reports have indicated that today could be the hottest Sept. 5 on record.

Bill Coulter, a meteorologist with CP24, recently took to Twitter to forecast “hot, hazy, humid and potentially record breaking heat today).

Temperatures in Mississauga are expected to reach 32 degrees today.

According to Coulter, the old record–31.7 degrees–was set in 1945.

Coulter says potential showers tonight and tomorrow will bring in colder air, effectively cooling the region.
