Any tourism business in Mississauga and Brampton that is trying to bounce back from two COVID-19 summers can now apply for up to $100,000 in non-repayable federal funding.

The window is now open for tourism businesses to apply for support through the federal Tourism Relief Fund (TRF). Announced last July, the TRF supports tourism businesses and organizations in adapting their operations to meet changing public health requirements, while investing in new products and services to attract visitors.

Destination Toronto is administering the program on behalf of the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). Tourism Mississauga and the City of Brampton Tourism Office are partners. Businesses are eligible for non-repayable contributions of up to $100,000.

The program is part of a $68.5-million investment for 11 regional tourism organizations across southern Ontario and the Indigenous Tourism Ontario. FedDev Ontario Minister Helena Jaczek announced the funding on April 6.

“The tourism sector is vital to the health of local economies in southern Ontario and creates jobs in communities across the region,” Jaczek stated.

“The Government of Canada’s Tourism Relief Fund … will be able to deliver financial support to local tourism businesses in Toronto, Mississauga, and Brampton to help them recover from the impacts of the pandemic, attract new visitors and drive economic growth in our communities.”
