Three teens from Mississauga and Brampton have been charged in relation to an attempted Toronto carjacking in January.

At around 3:20 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29, Toronto police responded to a report of a person with a gun in the area of Rexdale Boulevard and Humberwood Boulevard.

It’s alleged that, as the victim entered their parked vehicle, three males approached while wearing masks. One male took out a handgun and demanded the victim’s car keys and personal property.

“The boys forcefully removed the victim from the vehicle and then struck the victim over the head with the handgun,” said police.

The suspects took an unknown amount of cash and lottery tickets, but were unable to get the car keys and were forced to flee the area on foot.

Officers searched the area and located three 15-year-olds, taking them into custody.

The teens, one from Brampton and two from Mississauga, are charged with robbery with firearm, disguise with intent, and conspiracy to commit and indictable offence.

Their names are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

They appeared in court at Old City Hall at 10 a.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2023.
