Mississauga tops Brampton for best nightlife in Peel, rankings show

If you’re looking to head out for a night on the town in one of Peel’s two cities, Mississauga’s downtown core is the place to go.

That’s the result of a recent study that ranked a number of GTA communities in terms of lifestyle options they have to offer.

The ranking/study conducted by Canadian digital real estate platform Wahi listed its choices for best places to live in the GTA depending on what your priorities are.

Wahi “crunched the numbers for 400 neighbourhoods in five GTA regions,” including Peel (Mississauga/Brampton), and ranked the top three in 11 categories based on different lifestyles, needs and interests such as families, retirees, foodies, shopping, nature lovers, nightlife and more.

In Peel, it was determined that the best neighbourhood for nightlife is the Mississauga City Centre, otherwise known as the downtown core.

“If you live in this part of town, you won’t have to go far to find a happening nightlife. Hotspots such as Earl’s, Moxies and the Rec Room are just some of the local hotspots that draw in the weekend crowds,” the Wahi study noted.

Numbers show that the median selling price of a home in this area is $593,ooo and properties are selling for about $14,900 under asking price.

In looking at both Mississauga and Brampton overall, Wahi said that “if hip bars and trendy restaurants are your jam, then check out our list of the liveliest neighbourhoods in Peel based on their ranking. These party-central destinations offer everything from nightclubs to casual pubs. Planning the perfect night out has never been easier in these prime party zones.”

Ranking No. 2 among Peel’s top nightspots is downtown Brampton, which, according to Wahi, “…has a little bit of everything.”

The study notes that this area features “live music at Track’s Brew Pub, karaoke at Magnums Bar and Eatery, patios, sports bars and more.”

Median selling price of a home is $627,500 and properties are selling for about $11,900 under asking.

Rounding out the top three spots for nightlife in Peel is Brampton’s Queen Street Corridor.

“Along the Queen Street Corridor, you’ll find plenty of options for pub fare, brew pubs, late night patios and popular hotspots like Moxies,” Wahi says.

The median selling price of a home in that area is $570,000 and homes are selling for about $4,900 under asking price.

Wahi’s Where to Live 2023 is described as a “first-of-its-kind interactive and comprehensive ranking” of the GTA’s top neighbourhoods by region ranked against 11 lifestyle categories.

It was produced following an Ontario-wide survey of 500 homeowners conducted by Wahi and Angus Reid between Feb. 8 and 10 of this year.
