A Peel Regional Police cruiser won a national contest for vehicle graphics.

The police cruiser, a 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E is adorned with a rainbow flag and the hashtag “SafePlace” on the door. The design was created by Cathy Miron, Peel Regional Police’s graphic designer.

The cruiser won Blue Line Magazine’s Best Dressed Vehicle Award in the Community Relations Category.

The goal of the vehicle wrap was to show the police force’s commitment to supporting all members of the community.

“We are committed to a safe and inclusive workplace and community,” Peel Regional Police said in a tweet today (March 31).

Blue Line magazine, a national law enforcement publication, featured the winning vehicles in its March/April issue.

Many 2SLGBTQ+ people struggle and feel out of place in today’s society, Blue Line notes.

“Overall, the tone of the vehicle is proud, direct and inclusive,” Mark Figueiredo, director of materials management at Peel Regional Police told Blue Line magazine.

Figueiredo added that the vehicle tells the story of their “leading-edge police culture.”

“We aspire to be the most progressive, innovative and inclusive police service in Canada,” he said.

The annual Best Dressed Police Vehicle Awards showcase innovative and effective designs for police vehicle graphics and equipment packages and installation.

Police vehicles are often the most public face of policing and should reflect their communities as well as serve as a symbol of civic pride, the magazine notes.
