Mississauga adjusting, cancelling some city programs as Peel transitions into Red-Control Level

In response to new provincial restrictions and recommendations from Ontario’s COVID-19 Response Framework and the Region of Peel transitioning into the Red-Control Level, some of the City of Mississauga’s programs and services will be adjusted to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Beginning today (Saturday, November 7), the following adjustments will be in effect for City programs and services within Recreation and Culture:

Programs and services now available:

  • All weight room and fitness centre use will open effective Monday November 9 (max. occupancy of 10)*
  • In-person drop-in indoor fitness classes (including therapeutic and aquatics) will resume Monday November 9 (max. 10 participants per class)*
  • Adult instructional dance classes will resume to run as of Monday November 9 (max. 10 participants per class)

*Residents can begin to reserve their spot in the city’s drop-in reservation system at activemississauga.ca beginning Sunday November 8 at 6:00 a.m.

Programs and services that continue to run with limited capacities and existing public health safety measures in place:

  • Registered and drop-in aquatics programs, such as Learn to Swim and Leadership
  • Registered arts and learning programs
  • Seniors’ Centre classes
  • Registered and drop-in programs for non-team sports such as badminton and pickleball
  • Public swimming including lane, leisure & fun swims
  • Public skating including fun skates
  • Virtual Fitness activities that can be found at the city’s stay home stay active page

  • Meeting and event spaces are closed until further notice due to additional safety measures implemented by Peel Public Health (excluding worship service and daycare rentals)
  • Registered Learn to Skate programs
  • Registered and drop-in team sport programming such as basketball, volleyball, soccer and shinny
  • Adult and youth soccer leagues

Restrictions will be in place for rental permits:

  • Indoor capacities for rentals limited to 10 people per area (excluding worship service and daycare rentals)
  • Sport activities are subject to the outdoor gathering limit of 25 people
  • No scrimmage or game play (indoors and outdoors) – training and practice only
  • No spectators permitted (exemption for parent/guardian assistance to children where required)
  • Theatres remain closed to spectators. Rehearsals and broadcasting is permitted

Memberships:

  • If your membership expires before November 7, 2020 it will be withdrawn as of October 10, 2020 and a credit will be provided to your account
  • A 30 day extension will be provided for additional time identified within the current closure for Fit, Fit+, Wellness, and All-in memberships
