Police are seeking the public’s help in finding a 50-year-old woman who went missing from Mississauga on Sunday morning.

Peel Regional Police say the woman, whose first name is Yodit, was last seen near Mississauga Hospital, at Hurontario Street and The Queensway, at about 10 a.m.

Investigators say her family and police are concerned for her well-being.

Yodit is further described as standing 5-foot-7, with a slim build, very short curly grey hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black winter jacket past the hip, mustard-coloured toque with a pom-pom, grey scarf and black sandals.

Anyone with information is asked to call investigators with the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at 905-453–2121, ext. 1133, or Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Under a new policy adopted earlier this year regarding missing persons and what information will be released via social media or to the media, Peel police now only release the given names of missing people when the news release is accompanied by a photo.

Surnames will only be provided if “there is an investigative value to do so,” police say.

Toronto Police have a similar policy in place.
