UPDATE: Missing boy seen on Highway 407 near Brampton and Mississauga boundary located
An 11-year-old boy last seen walking along Highway 407 has been missing since Thursday afternoon, and police are asking residents in Mississauga and Brampton to help locate the child.
Around 2:40 p.m. on Thursday (Sept. 22), the OPP say an 11-year-old boy walked away from a vehicle near Highway 407 and Mississauga Rd.
Police say the child left the vehicle and began walking westbound along the north side of the highway.
The child is described as an 11-year-old white male, standing 4-foot-7-inches tall. He was last seen wearing black sweatpants, a black sweatshirt, white and black running shoes and a red jacket.
Investigators are asking anyone who lives or works in the area of Highway 407 and Mississauga Rd. to keep an eye out for the child, particularly around commercial buildings or properties.
“This child could have wandered, really, anywhere at this point,” Sgt. Kerry Schmidt of the OPP Highway Safety Division said in a video statement on Twitter.
“There is a possibility he may have wandered into a property, he could be hiding under a vehicle, he could be anywhere on property,” Schmidt said.
Police have been canvassing the area with ground and air units searching for the child.
