Brampton may not have had a playoff-bound junior lacrosse team this season, but the city is still going to see some top-flight lacrosse action when the Minto Cup National Junior ‘A’ Championship gets underway tonight at the CAA Centre.

Ontario champions Whitby Warriors are in action tonight at 8 against Alberta champion St. Albert Miners, following the tournament’s opening match at 5 featuring the B.C. champion Victoria Shamrocks against Ontario finalists Toronto Beaches.

Tuesday will see Toronto Beaches vs. Miners Lacrosse Club at 5 p.m., followed by Whitby vs Victoria at 8. The tournament’s round-robin portion will wrap up Wednesday with the Miners vs Victoria at 5 and Whitby against Toronto in a rematch of the Ontario final, at 8 p.m.

The second and third place teams go right back at it Thursday at 8, with the winner advancing to the best-of-three Minto Cup Final against the top seed.

The Final will take place Saturday at 7 and Sunday at 7, with game three if necessary to be played Monday night, also at seven p.m.
