Minto Communities’ The Heights of Harmony development in north Oshawa was a big winner at the BILD Awards gala Thursday, winning Project of the Year, as well as Green Builder of the Year (low rise) for the townhouse community going up near Harmony and Conlin roads.

The annual awards, presented by the Building Industry and Land Development Association, recognize excellence in architecture, design, people and sales and marketing of new homes in the GTA. Nearly 1,000 entries were submitted for the 47 awards.

Minto Communities, which has been building homes in the GTA for 65 years, was recognized for the array of sustainable features at its Heights of Harmony development, including tree canopies that are creating wildlife habitat, a moderating ‘microclimate’ in the homes and the use of durable and long-lasting materials.

Phase 2 of the development is coming soon.

The project also won several awards at this year’s Durham Region Home Builder’s Association (DRHBA) – including the People’s Choice Award. Minto was a four-time winner at the 2021 DRHBA awards and was chose Home Builder of the Year in 2022.

Other major wins at the BILD Awards included Great Gulf, which received the award for Home Builder of the Year, Low-Rise, and The Daniels Corporation, which was named Home Builder of the Year, Mid/High-Rise. As well, Tridel took home a Green Builder of the Year Award (Mid/High-Rise), the twelfth time since 2010.

“The BILD Awards finalists and winners exemplify excellence and innovation as they bring the GTA’s new communities to life,” said BILD President and CEO Dave Wilkes.
