Milton’s successful outdoor patio program now taking 2023 applications

A program designed to help local businesses in Milton during the pandemic is about to enter its fourth year and it’s time to sign up.
The Town of Milton is now accepting applications for the outdoor patio program for the 2023 season. The seasonal program allows bars and restaurants to extend and operate patios in designated areas.
“The Town of Milton aims to support businesses here in our community,” said Andy Scott, director Strategic Initiatives and Business Development.
“We’re excited to collaborate with our partners at the Milton Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Milton Business Improvement Area to relaunch the program on Victoria Day weekend in alignment with the opening of the Farmers’ Market. We encourage new and returning businesses to apply for a temporary patio permit and look forward to the 2023 season.”
The program was introduced in 2020 and has successfully supported Milton’s local food and beverage sector in recovering from the operational impacts resulting from the pandemic, while also advancing the Town’s overall place-making efforts.
Town staff will evaluate all applications through an expedited process and work closely with applicants to provide guidance and support so local bars and restaurants can safely operate outdoor patios during the 2023 patio season.
This year’s program will launch on Victoria Day weekend, coinciding with the return of the Farmers’ Market to Main Street. The program will run from May 20 to Oct. 31, for patios on public property and until Dec. 31 for patios on private property.
