Milton residents who travel daily on Charles Street will have to find a new route over the next couple of weeks.

The local road will be closed between Lydia Avenue and Commercial Street from today to Sept. 10.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding,” Town of Milton said in a tweet.

Along with Gazzola Paving Ltd., the Town has embarked on its 2021 asphalt overlay program which is set to run through to the fall.

Scheduled work includes road asphalt overlay as well as localized curb and sidewalk replacement.

In accordance with direction from the Province, this project is essential since it relates to the repair and maintenance of critical infrastructure.

Residents should be aware that they may need to park temporarily on side streets when certain construction activities are being performed.

The Town of Milton is also notifying residents that it will not be held responsible for any damage to sprinkler systems and private landscaping elements that have been placed within the public road allowance.

If sod is replaced as part of the above works, residents are asked to assist by watering the sod to establish proper growth.
