A school in Milton is currently dealing with an open outbreak of COVID-19.

Halton Region is reporting that as of today (Oct. 7), Irma Coulson Elementary Public School has a total of seven cases of the virus.

While these positive cases have been reported, the Halton District School Board (HDSB) stated that it does not necessarily mean that the individuals were exposed to COVID-19 at the school.

“A positive case at a school does not mean the individual was exposed to COVID-19 at the school.  They may have been exposed somewhere else in the community,” stated the HDSB.

The Board also stated that for all confirmed cases of the virus, only the families with children in the impacted classroom or cohort and staff at the school will be notified via email.

There have been no school closures in Milton as a result of these cases of COVID-19.
