A festival to celebrate Nigeria’s Independence Day is being hosted by a local organization in Milton this weekend.

The festival, called “Naija Fest,” is being organized by the Association of Nigeria Community in Milton on Saturday, Oct. 2, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Milton Bible Church, located at Chrisholm Dr.

The theme of the event is “Proudly Nigerian” and will feature a children’s art exhibition, poetry, spoken word, fashion, music and Nigerian cuisine.

“We encourage you to stop by at our various booths from our Nigerian-owned business to support the small business community,” states the festival’s event page.

Attendees are advised that masks will be required on-site. Additionally, showing proof of vaccination will also be required in certain indoor settings, as per the Province of Ontario’s mandate.
