Milton Menace Hockey Club owner, Jason Tryfon has announced he will be standing outside of the arena during scheduled games as a ‘silent tribute’ to the kids who will be unable to play hockey as a result of the new COVID-19 restrictions.

On Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, the Milton Menace started the year off with a big win before the Ontario government made an announcement regarding new restrictions.

Yesterday (Jan. 3), Premier Doug Ford announced that due to a rapid rise in COVID-19 cases, the Province would temporarily be moving to a modified Step Two of the Roadmap to Reopen.

As a result, the remainder of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) has been put on hold.

Following the announcement, Tryfon took to Twitter to express his frustration.

Tryfon stated that as a result of the announcement made by Ford, he will be outside of the Milton Memorial Arena every scheduled game day on behalf of every player on the Milton Menace team as well as the Ontario Junior Hockey League.

“It’s my own silent tribute to all kids who have taken the brunt during this pandemic. It’s the least I can do. To stand in the cold for three hours on every scheduled game night for these players,” he added on Twitter.

The Milton Menace were originally set to play again this Thursday, Jan. 6, before the season was paused until further notice.
