Milton man arrested in historical sexual assault investigation

Investigators with the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) Child and Sexual Assault Unit have made an arrest after an investigation into a historical sexual assault.
According to police, the assault took place over a decade ago and was recently reported.
Police say in order to protect the identity of the victim, no further information on the incident and this investigation will be provided.
On March 4, 2022, Sean James, a 54-year-old from Milton was arrested and charged with one count of sexual assault.
James was released from custody pending a court appearance, according to police.
Investigators believe that there may be additional victims and are urging anyone who may have been victimized by this accused or who has any information to contact the Child and Sexual Assault Unit at 905-825-4777 ext. 8970.

Police are reminding the public that there is no statute of limitation when it comes to reporting a sexual assault. This means that no matter how long ago the sexual assault happened, it can still be reported to the police.
