The Milton fire department has received a grant of more than $18,000 to purchase new safety equipment.

The money is from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada and will be used for a Paratech air bag lifting system including a master control kit, bags, hoses and accessories.

This lifting tool is necessary for situations when firefighters need to lift heavy objects to remove victims who are trapped after an accident.

“We are extremely grateful to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada and our local Firehouse Subs in Milton for providing us with this grant,” said Fire Chief Peter Gatto.

“We are so grateful to be given the tools needed to continue to keep the citizens of Milton safe and protected.”

Since 2015, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada has awarded 306 grants to public safety organizations.

The $18,067 grant to Milton Fire and Rescue Services is one of 22 grants to public safety organizations during Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada’s most recent grant cycle. The 22 grants will provide critical lifesaving equipment valued at more than $518,000 across Ontario.
