Milton residents should be prepared for major road construction for the foreseeable future.

That’s the opinion Milton Mayor Gord Krantz shared with insauga.com publisher Khaled Iwamura during an exclusive interview broadcast on Instagram.

Right now, Britannia Rd. is the road undergoing major renovations.

“It’s a work in progress,” said Krantz. “We have to remember that Britannia Rd. is one of the major regional connectors across the Region of Halton. It connects with Mississauga and, of course, when you’re connected with Mississauga, you’re connected with Toronto.”

Krantz predicts the work that is happening now on Britannia, between Hwy. 25 and Hwy. 407, will be completed within a year.

“There will still be some inconvenience there as the road is rerouted. It’s already bypassed the hamlet of Omagh.

But that won’t end the traffic woes local motorists will have to deal with. The Trafalgar Rd. corridor is next up on the agenda with that project taking several years.

“There’s two seasons we have to deal with, construction season and then winter.”
