Milton driver charged for speeding and texting on highway

Halton police have charged a Milton driver for speeding nearly 45 km/h above the maximum limit while using a handheld device, on the highway late Saturday.
On (Mar. 4) 2023, at approximately 9:30 p.m., police responded to a vehicle going 143 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on a Milton highway.
Police say the vehicle was swerving and failed to stay within its lane and upon closer observation, the driver was using a cell phone to text.
Officers mentioned in a recent tweet that speeding and texting are a dangerous combination.
Halton police say the driver was stopped and multiple charges were laid, but have not specified exactly what they were.
