A Milton councillor will be running against Gordon Krantz, Canada’s longest-serving mayor for his position this fall.

Zeeshan Hamid, Regional Councillor for Ward 4 recently made the announcement on social media with a teaser post leading up to the news.

Hamid has been serving as Regional Councillor for Ward 4 since he won the position back in 2018.

Now, he will be competing against Krantz for the mayoral position.
In December 2021, Krantz, 84, celebrated his 41st anniversary as mayor of the Town of Milton, making him the longest-serving mayor in a major municipality in Canada’s history.

Back in April, Krantz officially announced he would be seeking re-election in 2022.
