A Milton councillor has issued a reminder to residents to stay alert for farm equipment on rural roads.

With summer right around the corner, Milton residents may be seeing more farm equipment travelling the roadways as it is growing season for farmers.

As a result, Regional Councillor for Ward 3, Mike Cluett took to Twitter to share some tips on how Milton residents can stay safe and alert in these situations.

“Things to keep in mind when driving along Milton’s rural roads and you see any farm equipment,” wrote Cluett.

The original tweet, by the Ontario Federation of Agriculture, reminds residents across the province to slow down when seeing an SMV sign and to share the road.

“Ontario farmers have a limited window to plant and harvest the crops that feed our province, country and world,” wrote the Ontario Federation of Agriculture on Twitter.

It’s important for drivers in Milton and across Ontario to slow down, stay alert, be patient, share the road and stay in their lanes.
