The Milton Chamber of Commerce has a new program that will allow local businesses to show their Pride this month.

Throughout the month of June, businesses in Milton will be able to access a free sign to post in their storefronts and offices to welcome members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community into their space. Digital signs are also available for free.

Businesses do not need to be member of the Milton Chamber to access a free welcome sign that publicly affirm that all Miltonians are welcome in their place of business.

Businesses can sign up for a free sign online.

“It is our hope that these signs clearly communicate welcome and belonging for all patrons and visitors,” said Bianca Caramento, president and CEO of the Milton Chamber.

“With that said, it is important to note that signage alone does not erase past and present prejudice. It simply serves to remind viewers that safety and belonging exists, though perhaps not yet in every space we enter.”

The Milton Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit, membership-based, organization representing approximately 700 member businesses that employ more than 26,000 people in the community.

The initiative is being run in partnership with Royal Bank of Canada, Conestoga College, Cogeco, CN, Pflag Halton, PRISM, and the Downtown Milton Business Improvement Area.
